IBC 2016 Resounding Success for Eurofins Digital Testing

With over 55,000 attendees from over 160 countries over 6 days, IBC 2016 brought industry professionals and likeminded individuals together for the spectacular event that included highlights such as a keynote speech from film director, Ang Lee and a special thank you message from Astronaut, Kate Rubens from the International Space Station.

For the broadcast industry, IBC is the annual event that everyone looks forward to and this year was no exception. Eurofins Digital Testing ran 3 inspired demos on their stand, one of which was their proprietary test automation tool – TestWizard, which enables multiple applications to be tested in parallel. TestWizard provides automated end-to-end testing of multiple devices (mobiles, tablets, STBs, web services, web apps, TVs), is format independent (SD, HD & 4K) and is suitable for integration, regression, functional and non-functional testing.

The second demo focussed on Eurofins’ innovative Video Player Analysis Tool, which uses patent pending technology to determine, with frame accuracy, whether video content is being played correctly. The system works with a wide variety of video applications, including those designed for HbbTV, and any device (TV, PC, set-top-box, smartphone or tablet).

Finally, the Eurofins Digital Testing stand also featured a demo provided by Korea’s Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Samsung Electronics and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI). They were demonstrating the world’s first implementation of the UHD IBB (Integrated Broadband Broadcast) standard - based on ATSC 3.0 and HbbTV 2.0. During the event, both the President of the Korea Electonics Institute and the Korean Ambassador visited the Eurofins stand. This generated considerable interest amongst a wide variety of IBC attendees as Korea are due to begin ATSC 3.0 UHD broadcasts next year – a world first!
